POUND, VA- Wilma Jean Vanover, 80, entered into her eternal reward on Wednesday August 20, 2025, from Norton Community Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Pound, VA on February10, 1945, the daughter of the late Woodrow Mullins and Stella (Short) Baker.
Wilma was a born again Christian of the Baptist faith, she believed in the power of God and family and dedicated her life to creating a loving and supportive home for her husband and family. She loved keeping house and was very particular about it as well as her yard and her flowers. Wilma
loved cooking and making candy and also enjoyed gardening and canning. Wilma loved her family dearly and as long as she lives in the hearts of those who love her she will never die. There is a special bond between all the Mullins sisters.
Along with her parents, Wilma is preceded in death by her sisters, Regina Faye Adkins and infant Joanne Mullins; a brother, Edward Joe Mullins; son-in law, Steve Blankenbeckler and brother-in law, Bob England.
Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years, Jerry Vanover-Pound, VA; her daughter, Lisa Blankenbeckler - Wise, VA; a grandson, Cody Blankenbeckler and companion Kristen Brickey-Wise, VA; her sisters, Phyllis Baker and husband Clay- Pound, Va, Deborah Gibson and husband Freddie-Pound, VA and Judy England-Pound, VA; several nieces, nephews and cousins and a host of friends and loved ones to mourn her passing and cherish her memories.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00pm Saturday August 23, 2025, in the Baker Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Stacy Potter and Reverend Randy Carter officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm until time of services.
Grave side services will be conducted at 1:00 pm August 24, 2025, at the Wise Cemetery- Wise, VA where Robert England, Cody Blankenbeckler, Chris England, Rocky Baker, Randy Wyatt and Ethan Sturgill will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12
noon for the final viewing and to prepare to go in procession to the cemetery.
