POUND, VA- William Vastine McCoy, 89, entered into eternity Monday June 2, 2025, from Clintwood Heritage Hall.

Vastine was born March 29, 1936, to his parents the late Bascom and Gaynell (Robinson) McCoy. He was a Christian, a deacon and a long time member of Ferbie Chapel Church- Pound, VA. Vastine enjoyed working, he believed in providing for himself and his family. He was an owner/operator of coal trucks for 40 years and drove a Wise County school bus for 15 years. He enjoyed antique cars, watching NASCAR races (especially Kyle Larson), westerns and wrestling. He always loved going to church when he was able and spending time with his great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents Vastine was preceded in death by his sisters Reva Dotson and Nita Layne and his son-in-law Mark McGuire.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 68 years Delois (Mullins) McCoy; son Lonnie McCoy-Pound, VA; daughter Lois "Sissie" McGuire–Pound, VA; his grandchildren Heather Depriest and husband Adam-Burdine, KY and Willie McGuire-Pound, VA; his great grandchildren Lana DePriest and Heaven McGuire; sisters Ruth Ann Strouth (Verl) –Wise, VA; Glenda Baker (Freddie)- Kingsport, TN; Avenell Shortt–Pound, VA; Wanda Hylton (Mike)-Pound, VA; brothers Cleatis McCoy (Joy)–Pound, VA; James 'Digger' McCoy-Pound, VA; Langley McCoy-Pound, VA; Lester McCoy (Candace)–Pound, VA; Curtis McCoy- Pound, VA; Donnie McCoy–Raliegh, NC; his church family at Ferbie Chapel; and a host of friends and loved ones.

Delois, Lonnie and Sissie would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the nurses and doctors at Norton Community Hospital, all the nurses and staff at Heritage Hall and all the family members for their help, support and prayers for Vastine.

Funeral Services will be conducted 7:00 PM Thursday June 5, 2025, in the Baker Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Mike Strouth and Reverend Randy Carter officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until the time of services.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday June 6, 2025, at Levi Cantrell Cemetery on McFall Fork Road-Pound, VA where Junior McCoy, Junior Hylton, Reese Dotson, Preston Layne, Wayne McCoy and Ikey Strouth will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at Baker Funeral Home by 10:00 am for the final viewing and to prepare to go in procession to the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in memory of Vastine to the Pound Rescue Squad at P O Box 711, Pound, VA 24279.
