Mrs. Shirley Joy Rowin Meade, age 90, departed this mortal world on January 9, 2026, at Johnson City Medical Center.

Shirley was born nineth of eleven children to the late Jim and Alma Rowin, in Hennessey, Oklahoma on May 20, 1935. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth ray Meade, two sons, Kenny Meade and Kevin Meade; six brothers, and three sisters.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth Meade, Farmville, Virginia; brother Bob Rowin, Casa

Grande, Arizona; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

She was a member of Mt Zion Baptist Church in Jonesborough, Tennessee.

Mrs. Meade taught special education in Pound, Wise and Clinch County, VA. She led

and volunteered for the Special Olympics for 25 years. She was Keneth's full-time care-

giver while he battled Parkinsons with dementia. She lived in Jonesborough and then Johnson City, Tennessee in her late life.

Celebration of life services will be held at 12 Noon Saturday May 30, 2026 in the

Baker Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends from11:00 am until time of services.
