Ruby Gail Sturgill, 78, of Pound, Virginia passed away on June 4, 2026 surrounded by her two daughters Melinda and Mandy.
Born on November 27, 1947 in Pound, Virginia. Ruby lived a life centered on faith, family, and kindness. She was a true woman of God. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and a proud great grandmother. Her greatest joy came from spending time with those she loved and creating memories with her loving family.
She is survived by her daughters Melinda (Ray) Yeary of Wise, VA; Mandy (William) Worrell of Lebanon, VA; Rhonda Sturgill of Duffield, VA; Son Marty Sturgill of Eolia, KY. She had 4 grandchildren Kayla (Steven) Grills of Wise, VA; Hannah (Andrew) Herrin of Surgoinsville,TN; Timothy Sturgill of Eolia, KY; Isaac Worrell of Lebanon, VA; She had 3 great grandchildren Keaton Grills, Hayden Grills, and Averie Herrin; Sisters Anna (Mark) Newsome of Pound, VA; Iona Sturgill of Wise, VA; and Brother Albert (Marie) Church of Pound, VA.
Ruby was proceeded in death by her loving husband of 57 years Kenneth Sturgill; Mother Marie Church; Father  Albert Church, and Nephew Timothy Sturgill.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m., with Ray Yeary officiating.   Burial will take place immediately afterward at the Church cemetery on Hale Gap Road in Pound, Virginia. Serving as pallbearers will be Ray Yeary, William Worrell, Isaac Worrell, Steven Grills, and Mark Newsome.
