POUND, VA – Ronald Owen "Ron" Shortt, 84, passed away Friday

Born January 12, 1942, Ron was the son of Roy J and Grace Shortt

He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army where he served 3

years and he was a paratrooper. He was also a member of the Pound

VFW Post 9600 and the Whitesburg American Legion Post 152.

A true outdoorsman and hardworking man by trade Ron spent 60

in his work. He was a jack of all trades and could repair almost anything.

Beyond work Ron was an avid reader, with a vast knowledge of many

topics, he enjoyed watching Jeopardy and was proficient at answering

the questions.  He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and

working on a project with his hands. He was a dedicated family man

and a loyal friend who would give you the shirt off his back.

Ron was soft spoken, never the one who wanted to be the center of

attention, but he loved the Lord, he loved his family and he loved his
