Pound, VA – Nina Jones, 76, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, January 10, 2025. She passed peacefully at Johnson City Medical Center with loved ones by her side.

Nina was of the Christian faith and loved Jesus. She lived her entire life in Pound, VA. She was an avid gardener and raising beautiful flowers was her passion. Nothing made her happier than working outside all day in her beautiful flower beds. This was a love Nina shared with everyone she knew. She treasured the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nina enjoyed going on road trips to Florida and Tennessee. She most enjoyed visiting Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge to see all the sights and annual Christmas lights. Nina always loved her frequent "sisters' day out" and birthday lunches with family members every March.

Nina joins her loved ones who had gone to the Kingdom of Heaven ahead of her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Ray G Phillips and Beaulah Bowman Phillips, of Pound. Two brothers; Perry Ray Phillips, Sr of Pound, and Jerry Dale Phillips and wife Helena of Coos Bay, OR; a Brother-in-law Sydney Hensley of Pound, and a Great-Grandson who passed away before birth.

She is survived by her sisters Karen Bowman of Pound; and Ilene Sturgill and husband Darrell of Wise; Janie Hensley of Johnson City, TN. Brothers; Kendall Phillips and Wife Carrie of Wise; Bendall Phillips of Mooresburg, TN, and her sister-in-law Retta Phillips and family of Weber City.

Nina also leaves behind her loving and caring husband of over 57 years, Laymond "Headache" Jones of Pound. One son J. Michael Jones, and wife Lynn of Hernando Beach, FL; one daughter Teena D Jones Brooks, and husband Michael of St. Paul, VA. Three Granddaughters Kenna C Mullikin and husband Rodney of Norton; Keisha L. Elkins and Fiancé Ian Tench of Bristol; Amanda L Orescovich and son Darrin Mobley of Brandon, FL. Two grandsons; Dr. Brant M Jones and girlfriend Brianna Collazo of Hudson, FL, and Christopher E Orescovich of Tampa, FL.

Nina also leaves lifelong friend and neighbor Medina Stanley and family; friends and confidants Anita Crawford, Robin Burton Hubbard, and Rosella Carol Tench along with a multitude of cousins, nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters in Christ and more beloved friends than one could ever imagine.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00pm Thursday January 16, 2025, in the Baker Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Randy Carter officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm until the time of services.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 am Friday January 17, 2025, at Dewey Memorial Cemetery where family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:00 am to prepare to go in procession to the cemetery.
