Obituary

Nathan Scott Vanover, formerly from Pound, Virginia, returned to the arms of God on Friday, October 4, 2024. Scott was born February 26, 1969.

Scott was born in Pound, Virginia and worked as a coal miner before retiring. He and his wife, Jessica, traveled extensively and loved outdoor activities. He was a devoted Christian. Scott always had a smile on his face and laughter in his heart.

Scott is survived by his wife, Jessica Ann Vanover; parents Paul and Marie Vanover of Pound, deceased; maternal grandparents Charlie and Minnie McKnight, deceased; paternal grandmother Marie Ventro; stepmother Lotus Vanover of Pound Virginia; daughters, Mandy Vanover, and Allison Vanover, ; sisters Barbara Mullins and Tammy Robinson both of Pound, Virginia, and Gail Greear, from Zebulon, North Carolina; two brothers Stacy Vanover of Coeburn, Virginia, and Mitchell Vanover of Jasper, Alabama; two grandchildren and a multitude of friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 pm Thursday October 10, 2024, in the Baker Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Stacy Vanover officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until time of services.

Graveside services will be conducted Friday October 11, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Vanover Family Cemetery-Pound, VA where Nathan will be laid to rest. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:00 am to prepare to go in procession to the cemetery. Mitchell Vanover, Stacy Vanover, Rondal Mullins, Johnathan Robinson, Eugene Mullins, and Michael Robinson will serve as pallbearers.
