Melissa Osborne Wright

COLUMBIA, MISSOURI

Melissa (Missy) Osborne Wright was born on August 10, 1968,to Jim (Jimbo) and Lauretta (Larty) Osborne. She fought long and hard but finally succumbed to her illnesses, surrounded by those she loved. Missy was feisty, and that spirit was an unmistakable part of who she was.

In September 1984, Missy married her high school sweetheart, JR Wright. Together, they left the mountains of Southwest Virginia and moved to Columbia, Missouri, where they began their own chapter of life. Missy loved her family, spending time at her lake home, her cats, and her grandbabies.

She is survived by her husband, JR Wright; her two sisters, Rhonda Mullins and Tina Maggard; her sister-in-law Lisa Tye, her two children, Ashley Scholl and Kenny Wright; her father and mother-in-law, George and Barbara Wright; and her two grandchildren, Landon Wright and Lilly Wright.

The family would like to thank the staff and care teams at MU Cancer Associates and Boone Hospital for their care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Missy’s memory to the Columbia Youth Basketball Association, which she proudly supported for over 30 years.

Visitation will be held at Parker Millard in Columbia, Missouri, on Tuesday, October 13, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Missy will be laid to rest beside her parents at the Cox Cemetery on Alfred Cox Road in Pound, Virginia.

Visitation will be held at Baker Funeral Home in Pound, VA on Friday, October 16, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. Pat Lazovich will officiate the services in Pound VA
