Obituary

Lina "Lou" Branham, 81 of Fredericksburg, VA, entered eternal life Wednesday, June 17, 2026, in Eolia, KY, at the home of Bobby and Annette Adams (nephew and niece, caregivers).  She was of the Baptist faith.

Lou lived on Southfork until she and her late husband, Dave, moved to Fredericksburg, VA, after high school to pursue a promising future. Lou worked at National Linen, the Administrative Office of Stafford County Schools, and Mary Washington Hospital.  She retired at 73 years old.

Lou was a loving wife and caregiver to her husband, Dave, who had MS, and a loving Mother, Mams, and Mimi.  Much like her mother, Lou was the matriarch of her family. She was a strong woman, had faith in her Lord, encouraged her family, and advised others to pray about it and to believe that God would take care of it.  She was warmhearted, forgiving, compassionate, strong-willed (especially with Dave), a good friend to those she knew, and a good listener.  She enjoyed her home, yard work, rocks, flowers, gospel music, old country music, cooking, spending time with family, thrift and antique shopping, peanut butter sandwiches, and coffee.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, David Branham; her father, Delmar Hampton; and her mother, Sarah Ellen (Back) Hampton.  Brothers: Floyd Hampton and Eugene Hampton. Sisters: Freeda Adams, Coleda Sturgill, and Flossie Boggs.

She is survived by her daughter, Lena L. (Tony) Wright, Norton, VA; granddaughters Kristal Dickerson, Fredericksburg, VA, and Sara (Nick) Shaver, Lexington, NC.  Also,   surviving are 4 great-grandchildren: Michael Dickerson, Kaylee Dickerson, Kinsleigh Shaver, Lily Shaver, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 Noon Saturday June 20, 2026, at Baker Funeral Home, Pound, VA with Bill Mullins officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until time of services.

Graveside services and burial will follow at Bolling Flat Gap Cemetery, where Lou will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband David. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Baker Funeral Home, Pound, VA, is serving the family of Lina "Lou" Branham.
