Obituary

Pound, VA – Laymond "Headache" Jones, 79, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, July 18, 2025. Laymond passed unexpectedly at his home in Pound.

Laymond had rekindled his faith and love for the Lord in recent months after the passing of his beloved wife Nina of 57 years. He openly discussed his renewed faith and the comfort of knowing he would one day join her in Heaven. Headache lived his entire life in Pound, VA, and spent decades working in the coal industry as a truck driver and mechanic for several companies. He was an avid outdoorsman, and spending time in nature was his favorite pastime. Nothing made him happier over the years than walking around the Pound Dam with his beloved grandchildren or dogs Maggie, Ella, and his final furry companion, who was by his side at his passing, his sweet Luna. Laymond volunteered at the dam for years, hoping to ensure it remained pristine for future generations. He loved his garden and could grow the best tomatoes and cucumbers in a good year. He enjoyed decorating his yard with inflatables and lights for the grandkids every holiday. Laymond treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed visiting Gatlinburg and Dollywood.

Laymond served in the United States Army and enjoyed his visits to the VA clinic, where he received excellent care from the services provided.

Laymond joins his loved ones who have gone ahead of him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Jones and Nevonda Jones, of Pound; and five brothers: Douglas Jones, Donald Jones, Harvey Jones, Mitchell Jones, and Freddy Jones; and a great-grandson who passed away before birth.
