Kaffie Wright

POUND, VA – Kaffie Wright, 71, passed away Tuesday October 13, 2026, at Norton Community Hospital. Her loving family was at her bedside.

Kaffie was of the Christian faith. She was a loving wife, mother, grand-mother, sister and friend. She was a caregiver by nature, she was constantly taking care of someone. Kaffie raised her kids, helped raise her grandkids and sat with several elderly people as they became increasingly dependent on help to perform daily tasks. She was particularly proud of her grandkids, her greatest joy was sharing life with them. Kaffie was an excellent cook, she enjoyed listening to 50’s and 60’s music, especially instrumental music. She loved to reminisce about the past, going through fond memories of days gone by.

Kaffie was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Ray Wright, Sr.; her parents, Lincoln Garfield Hamilton and Edna Helen (Stanley)Hamilton; brothers, Rocky Hamilton, Ricky Hamilton, Paul Hamilton, Ronnie Hamilton, and Bud Hamilton; and her sisters Bessie Mullins and Joann Noble.  

Survivors include her daughter Melanie Sowards and husband Jeremy- Pound, VA; her sons Kenneth Ray Wright, Jr. and wife Robin-Pound, VA, Joshua Lee Wright-Pound, VA and Aaron Benjamin Wright and wife Brittany- The Philippines; her grandchildren Christopher Aaron Hughes, Bryan Lucas Wright, Leiah Faith Wright, Mason Creed Sowards, Chasity Hope Sowards, Rowan Sowards, Jasper Sowards, Samantha Wright and Lyrik Wright; great- grandchildren Jax Hughes and Harley Beth Hughes; her sisters Tessie Perry- Ohio and Janice Watts-Clintwood, VA; her brothers Billy Joe Hamilton-Clintwood, VA, Johnny Hamilton-Clintwood, VA, and George Hamilton-Clintwood, VA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; her special friend Tammy (Gardner) Salyers; and a host of friends and loved ones.

As per Kaffie’s wishes she will be cremated and the family will plan a memorial service at a later date.
