WALNUT COVE, NC - Joe Meade was born on November 17, 1947, and was raised by his parents with a strong foundation rooted in family, faith, and hard work - values he carried with him every day of his life.

Joe was a devoted husband and a man who took immense pride in his family. He was preceded in death by his parents- Priscilla and Napolean Meade; his cherished wife, Lorene Meade; his daughter, Wanda Kiser; and his aunt Jeanette and uncle George.

He is survived by his children- Connie, Tonyia, and Mark; eight grandchildren; and many great‑grandchildren who were the light of his later years. Joe had a special place in his heart for the many nieces and nephews he grew up alongside - Aleta, Andrea, Billy, Benny, and Robert; as well as the great‑nieces and great‑nephews he adored and loved.

Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, serving on active duty from May 1968 to May 1970. After returning home, he built a life defined by dedication and hard work. He spent 31 years at the Prime Sirloin, where he served as General Manager - a role he carried out with integrity and pride. After retiring, Joe and Lorene moved to North Carolina, but Joe never stopped calling Pound, Virginia home.

Anyone who knew Joe knew his yard. Keeping it beautiful wasn't just a hobby - it was a passion and a point of pride. His flower beds and landscaping at his long-time Pound home became something people came from miles around to admire- a living reflection of the care and attention Joe gave to everything he touched.

A true Virginian through and through, Joe was a fiercely loyal Virginia Tech fan. Hokie football was sacred, and he took every opportunity to watch or attend each and every game, cheering faithfully no matter the season.

Most importantly, Joe was a man of deep faith. He was a born‑again Christian and a longtime, devoted member of Hamilton Chapel Church. His faith guided his life and gave him peace.

Joe will be remembered for his steady presence, his love for family, his service to his country, his devotion to God, and the beauty he brought into the lives of everyone who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Hamilton Chapel Church, 9308 Hamilton Chapel Church Road, Pound, Virginia, beginning at 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 25. A meal will be provided immediately following the service by the congregation in the fellowship hall.
