Jerald Michelle King

WISE, VA – Jerald Michelle “Joann” King, 76, entered into eternity Thursday September 24, 2026.

Joann was of the Baptist faith. She discovered her passion for making others feel beautiful at an early age. She dedicated more than 30 years of her life to her craft as a cosmetologist in Haines City, FL. For years she was a familiar and welcoming face at the Corner Clip Joint. Joann didn’t just style hair, she built friendships. To Joann her salon chair was a place of comfort, laughter and listening. She had a gift for making her clients feel seen, valued and special. Whether styling hair, sharing life stories or offering a kind word her warmth left a lasting mark. In her later years she worked at Lowes and the Southwest Regional Jail in Duffield. Outside of work she enjoyed music, especially Joe Cocker and old country music, she loved to dance and was an avid fan of Greys Anatomy, she would watch it over and over. She also could watch Lethal Weapon over and over. She cherished the time she spent with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Joann also loved her Chihuahua Kirby. She approached every part of her life with creativity, grace and boundless love for her family.

Joan was preceded in death by her mother Margie Nancy (Collins) Wood and her step-fathers Ralph Huff and Jack Wood; and her former husband and father of her children Howard “Buster” King.

Survivors include her daughters Hollie King Holman-Wise, VA, and Danielle Bellamy and husband Jeff-Wynne, AK; her son Matt King and wife Tara-Big Stone Gap, VA; her grandchildren Stephianie Greear, Halie Lynn, Hanady Barge, Kennedy Bardge, Zoie King, Karson King, Joseph Daniels, Seth Daniels, Samuel Bentley, Parker Bellamy, Emily Bellamy and Evan Bellamy; great grandchildren Weston Tackett, Blakely Greear, Kipton Bentley, Bianca Bentley, Boston Bentley and Baby Boy Axel on the way; her sister Alie Van Huss and husband R C-Pound, VA; her brothers Lee Huff and wife Bonnie-Pound, VA, and Dee Huff and wife Janice-Manassas, VA; her great aunt Margaret Hibbitts- Big Stone Gap, VA; several nieces, nephews and cousins; several family members and special friends in Alabama and Florida; and a host of friends and loved ones.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon Wednesday September 30, 2026, in the Baker Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jimmy Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until time of services

Burial will follow in Powell Valley Memorial Gardens-Big Stone Gap, VA where Matt King, Jacob Greear, Ricky Pienkta and Jeremiah Wood will serves as pallbearers.
