POUND, VA – Janice Fay Gilbert, 62, passed away peacefully Thursday February 12, 2026, at Holston Valley Hospital-Kingsport, TN after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Her loving family was at her side.

Janice was a devoted Christian of the Baptist faith, who had professed her belief in her Lord and Savior. Her faith carried her

through life's joys and its hardest valleys. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, a caring sister aunt and a true friend to so many.  For 30 years Janice worked at Riggs Oil, where she served as longtime manager, she wasn't just good at running a convenience store- she was the heart of it. Janice found joy in the simple things-walking through the flea market, shopping for bargains and clothes shopping. She often joked that Amazon was her best friend. She liked keeping up with scanner food to know what was going on. She loved her fur babies Sassy and Sadie. But above all else, her greatest love was her family. Her grandbabies were her whole world. Being May May was her proudest title and

nothing brought her more happiness than time spent with them. They were truly her pride and joy.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents Clifford Farris Mullins and Delcie Marie (Collins) Mullins; and her brother Clifford Mullins.

Those left to carry her love forward include her husband of 30 years Ronnie "RG" Gilbert-Pound, VA; her daughter Laurisa Phillips and

husband Travis-Pound, VA; her sons Ronnie Gilbert and wife Savannah-Pound, VA and Dwain Gilbert and wife Maggie-Meadowview, VA; her grandchildren Dalton Phillips, Olivia Phillips, Kayson Gilbert and JeMeka Wooden; her sisters Debbie Baker, Deloris Powers, Phyllis Collins and Teresa Chandler; her brother David Mullins; several nieces,

nephews and cousins; her cherished flea market friends; and a host of friends and loved ones.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Holston Valley Hospital for the kindness, compassion and the loving care shown to Janice and her family during this time.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 pm Saturday February 14, 2026, in the Baker Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Reynolds officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until time of services.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Sunday February 15, 2026, in the Levi Cantrell Cemetery on McFall Fork Road-Pound, VA where Ronnie Gilbert, Dwain Gilbert, Travis Phillips, Jonathan Mullins,

Cliff Mullins and Otis Gilbert will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at Baker Funeral Home by 12 Noon for the final viewing and to prepare to go in procession to the cemetery.
