McROBERTS, KY – James Robert “Bobby” Barnett, Jr. 68, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday August 5,2026 at his home.

  Bobby was born November 7,1957 in Fleming, KY. Bobby was of the Christian faith. He was a lifelong resident of Letcher County. Bobby was a former coal truck driver with many years of experience. He loved driving trucks. Bobby was also an avid hunter, he loved the outdoors. Bobby loved his dogs and he also enjoyed riding four wheelers. Bobby enjoyed socializing with his friends and family. He was the life of a party. He wanted everybody to have a good time.

  Bobby was preceded in death by his parents James Robert and Pauline (Wilson) Barnett; his son James Robert Barnett III; a sister Tammy Barnett; his son-in-law Jerry Johnson and brothers-in-law Barry Bailey, Erwin Stamper and Buddy Day.

  Survivors include his daughter Angela Johnson-Cromona, KY; his sonnAdam Ratliff -Virgie, KY; his grandchildren Taylor Bentley (Jordan), Koby Barnett (Olivia), Reese Barnett (Bailey), Cash Barnett, and Camron Barnett; great grandchildren Jaxton Bentley, Judson Bentley, Roman Barnett, Gracie Barnett and Baby Barnett on the way; sisters Sherry Jean Bailey-McRoberts, KY and Lisa Gibbs-Corbin, KY; brothers Gary Barnett (Sharon) -Bean Station, TN, David Barnett (Wendy)- Lynn Haven, FL and John Barnett (Mary) Jackson, KY; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends and loved ones.

  A celebration of life service will be conducted at 3:00 pm Saturday August 15, 2026, at the McRoberts Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Henry Rucker officiating.
