McROBERTS. KY - James Robert "Bobby* Barnette, Jr. 68, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday August 5.2026 at his home.

Bobby was born November 7,1957 in Fleming, KY. Bobby was of the Christian faith. He was a lifelong resident of Letcher County. Bobby was a former coal truck driver with many years of experience. He loved driving trucks. Bobby was also an avid hunter, he loved the outdoors Bobby loved his dogs and he also enjoyed riding four wheelers. Bobby enjoyed socializing with his friends and family. He was the life of a party. He wanted everybody to have a good time.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents James Robert and Pauline (Wilson) Barnette; his son James Robert Barnette IlI; and his son-in-law Jerry Johnson.

Survivors include his daughter Angela Johnson-Cromona, K Y: his son Adam Wright-Dorton, K Y; his grandchildren Taylor Bentley (Jordan). Coby Barnett (Olivia), Reese Barnette (Bailey), Kash Barnette (Kainan). and Camron Barnette; great grandchildren Jaxton Bentley, Judson Bentley, Roman Barnette, Gracie Barnette and Baby Barnette on the way; sisters Shirley Jean Bailey-McRobert, KY and Lisa Gibbs-Corbin, K Y; brothers Gary Barnett (Sharon Stewart) -Bean Station, K Y, David Barnette (Wendy)- Panama City, FL and John Barnette (Mary) Jackson, K Y; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends and loved ones.

As per Bobby's wishes he will be cremated and there will be a memorial service on a later date.
