Obituary

ABINGDON, VA- Helen Carlene Taylor went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday January 12, 2025, from Bristol Rehab Center- Bristol, VA.

Carlene was a Christian of the Freewill Baptist faith and a longtime member of Seco Freewill Baptist Church, she loved reading her Bible and singing in church, always sharing her love of God to others. She also enjoyed watching old television shows…Gunsmoke being one of her favorites. Carlene loved the beauty of flowers, especially roses. She treasured her family and loved spending time with them.

Carlene was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Bernard Taylor; parents, Dewey "Red" and Gerushia (Salyers) Rogers; sisters, Josephine Richardson, Eva Winkle, Frances Branham and Beulah Hanshew ; brother, John Rogers.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathi Price and husband Teddy- Abingdon, VA; a son, Alvin C. Taylor and wife Monica- Aurora, CO; grandchildren, Jared Stephens (Julia), John P. Taylor, Dawna M. Nelson (Dennis) Matthew Taylor and Nicole McDaniel (Jake); great grandchildren, Alexa Nelson, Caitlin Nelson, Zack Nelson, Natalie Nelson, Wyatt Taylor, Joshua Taylor, Colton Taylor, Chloe Rogers, Emma Rogers, Sawyer McDaniel and Colt McDaniel; great-great grandchildren Libby Lee and Maverick Schriver ; brother, William Rogers (Grace)- Louisville, KY; several nieces, nephews and cousins; her church family, and a host of friends and loved ones.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday January 18, 2025, at Seco Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Rocky Craft officiating. Burial will follow in the Wright Cemetery- Whitaker, KY. where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends after 5:00 pm Friday January 17, 2025, in the Baker Funeral Home Chapel-Pound, VA where there will be a 7:00 pm song service.
