CLINTWOOD, VA – Eugene Clinton Hayes, 85, departed his earthly home Wednesday June 18, 2025 for his eternal resting place.

Eugene was of the Primitive Baptist faith. He was a firm believer in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Eugene was a retired coal miner

and was also an accomplished carpenter and a certified welder. He also enjoyed working on cars and tinkering with almost anything.

He was a jack-of-all trades. He enjoyed landscaping, gardening and canning. Eugene was also known to run a vacuum cleaner and do some housework. Eugene was also an avid pet lover, having many during his lifetime…most recently Samantha his cat and Piper his dog.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents Emory R. and Nanny Belle (Smith) Hayes; his wife, Gail (Buchanan) Hayes; his sisters Pearl Stout, Pauline Yates, Beatrice Belcher and Ruby Boggs; his brothers Jimmy

Hayes, Charlie Hayes and John Hayes; and his step-son Randall Meade;

Survivors include his wife Lisa Howard-Clintwood, VA; his daughters Melinda Robin Davis and Melissa Marie Hayes; grandchildren Randa LeShae Meade and husband Zach Bohannon and their daughter, Haley-Smyrna, TN, Nikki Duty (Andrew), Askley Davis, Lacey Johnson and

Briton Wallace; 8 great-grandchildren; step-daughter Heather Rose- Clintwood, VA; step-son Bradley Howard- Clintwood, VA; special friends, Eza Davis Jr. (Brother Junior) and Kelly McGuire several nieces, nephews

and cousins; and a host of friends and loved ones.

All services will be private.
