POUND, VA – Demus Ray Meade, 79, passed away Thursday August 21, 2025 at his home.

Demus was of the Baptist faith. He was a loving father. Demus was an avid outdoorsman. He was a self-taught marksman and quite accomplished at it. He had actually been asked to leave a

shooting match because of his accuracy. He reloaded his own ammunition kept his rifle in top notch condition. Demus was also

well versed with a bow and arrow. On more than one occasion he had split his previous arrow in the bullseye. Also he loved to fish and at one time held the Virginia state record for a smallmouth bass. In his younger years he loved to ride motorcycles and later in life he rode four wheelers. Also in his younger years Demus was well known to enjoy a good fight, even to the point that sometimes he would cause them.

Demus was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Virginia (Robinson) Meade; his sister Eletta Cantrell; and his nephew Johnny Steele.

Survivors include his daughter Melissa Renee Bell and husband Mike-Pound, VA, who he affectionately knew as "Kid"; a grandson Spencer Salyers-Pound, VA who he knew as "The Boy"; a sister Kay Perry and husband Darius-Farnham, VA; his brothers William Meade and wife Helen-Abingdon, VA and Tollie Jasper Meade and wife Jennifer-Spencer, VA; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends and loved ones.

As per Demus's wishes he will be cremated and there will be a gathering of his family and friends at a later date to share memories.
