PIKEVILLE, KY- David Gordon Elkins, 60, passed away Thursday October 16, 2025 at the Pikeville Medical Center after an extended illness. His loving family was at his side.

David was of the Baptist faith. He worked at a lumber mill and several other jobs in his life. He became disabled and was forced to retire. David loved spending time with his family and friends. Just hanging out and having a good time relaxing. David was a U K wildcat fan and also enjoyed watching professional wrestling and westerns. One of his favorite hobbies was collecting skulls and skull paraphernalia - t-shirts, hats, lighters, cups almost anything with a skull on it.

David was preceded in death by his parents Donald Lee and Phyllis (Elkins) Haley; a nephew Nicholas Pendleton; his paternal grandparents Utah and Alice (Horne) Haley; and his maternal grandparents Dallas and Myrtle (Haley) Smith.

Survivors include his daughters Rachel Elkins-Jenkins, KY, Felicia Wright-Clintwood, and step-daughter Courtney Sharp-Matewan ,WV; his sisters Sabrina Haley and companion Dougie Pendleton-Mayking, KY, and Tabitha Michelle Johnson and companion Brian Lambert-Jonesville, VA; his brother Manuel Haley and wife Audrey-Whitesburg, KY; his grandchildren McKinlee Quillen, Haley Potter, Brian Sharp and Jinora Sharp; his companion Crystal Tuggle-Pikeville, KY; a bonus sister Teresa Tuggle-Pikeville, KY; nieces Beth Haley and Ashley Wolf; nephews Dawton Haley, Jesse Haley, Douglas Ryan Pendleton, Chris Johnson, Shawn Johnson and Alex Lambert; great niece Violet Wolf; great nephews Bellamy Wolf, Pryson Johnson, Preston Johnson

and Payton Johnson; bonus brother and lifelong friend Benny Fields-Pikeville, KY; dear friend and 2nd Mom-Martha Potter-Pikeville, KY; and a host of friends and loved ones.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 pm Friday October 17, 2025 in the Baker Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Caleb Howard and Reverend Danny Quillen officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until time of services.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday October 18, 2025 at the Dewey Memorial Cemetery on Dewey Cemetery Road-Pound, VA where family members and friends will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:00 Noon for the final viewing and to prepare to go in procession to the cemetery.
