GATE CITY, VA -Clifton Edward Horne, 75, Saw his faith end in sight on December 15, 2024, at the James H Quillen VA Medical Center when his last Earthly battle ended.

Born on April 1, 1949, in Pike County, Kentucky to the late Henry and Sarah (Gross) Horne; Clifton was also preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny, and Ray Horne, and one sister, Teresa Horne  Conway.

Those left to carry a lifetime of memories include his loving wife of 56 years, Nadine Horne, of the home. One daughter, Sharon Horne. One "Son he never had", Very Special Nephew Danny Ray Sturgill (Missy) of Kingsport. Grandsons Hunter Hensley (Amanda), Avery Hall, Cyrus Rogers, and Taylor "TAS" Sturgill. One granddaughter, Katelyn Hall Williamson. Great-grandchildren Isaiah, Ashlynn, and Elijah Hensley. Special Son-In-Law Shane Hall. Brothers Dallas Horne, Mike (Ann) Horne, Tim (Tammy) Horne. Sisters Linda (David) Wright and Rita Bryant. And a host of nieces, nephews, and friends that this obituary could not hold.

There aren't enough words to describe who this man was. Clifton was the jack of all trades, and master of most, whose life boasted an ARMY career that saw him receive a Ft Knox High Gunner Award in 1969. A business career that spanned 35 years as Kingsport's radiator specialist, a car lot owner, and a coon hunting supplier. A hunting career that left raccoons across the region in fear, and the deer of Big Moccasin Creek in Hollywood lights. A family life that contained lessons that will never be forgotten and a love that can only be topped by Christ himself. Of all the things Clifton left behind the most important is the testimony of faith in Jesus Christ, who he found 35 years ago. He was a faithful member and deacon at Copper Creek (Addington Frame) Primitive Baptist Church. If he were writing this himself, he would want you to know that Jesus is the only way, and that is the only decision you will ever make that truly matters in the end. He was ALWAYS thinking & praying for others. He was tough as nails but had a heart as big as heaven. He couldn't sleep if someone he knew was in trouble and he would do whatever he could to help them. There's no doubt that when he got on his knees in Heaven Sunday morning, he was praising God and thanking Him for everything He's done for him while he was here with us. He NEVER failed to give God all the praise & glory while here on earth. Now he gets to do it face to face forever. He was ready and that gives us peace.

The family will receive friends on Thursday December 19, 2024 from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm at Poplar Grove Primitive Baptist Church (768 Poplar Grove Rd) in Kingsport, TN.  There will be a 7:00 pm evening service.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 Noon Friday December 20, 2024 at Poplar Grove Primitive Baptist Church with Pastor Harmon Willis, Pastor Oscar Irvin and Reverend Scott Tipton officiating.

Military services conducted by the American Legion Post 3/265 and burial will follow in the Poplar Grove Church Cemetery where family members and close friends will serve as pallbearers.
