Chances Kyra Varson

   POUND, VA- Chances Kyra (Kelly) Varson, 95, passed away

peacefully from her residence Tuesday September 15, 2026.

Chances was born on September 9, 1931, in Clintwood, VA to the

late Chants B. and Lucille (Strange) Kelly. She was a Christian and

a member of Pound Baptist Church for many years where she attended

until her health wouldn’t let her. She loved music of all types,

attending many concerts herself.

   She was also an amazing cook and homemaker, she

enjoyed preparing meals and bringing everyone together for as

many events that she could.

   Above all else, she devoted herself to her family. She shared a

remarkable 73 years with her late devoted husband, William Paul

Varson, that passed on June 23, 2023, and she treasured their life

they built together. Their travels created many cherished memories,

and she found great joy exploring new places with her husband,

children and grandchildren.

   Survivors include her four daughters, Paula Varson- Castroville,

TX, Amy Varson- Pound, VA, Stephaine Varson- Ashland, KY and

Mary (Varson) Cromer- Pound, VA; grandchildren, Sarah Lynch-

Ashland, KY, Martha Day- Castroville, TX, Eugenia Day-

Castroville, TX, and Julian Chant Cromer- Pound, VA; great-grand

children, Elizabeth Ruth Lynch (Elliott); infant sister, Imogene Kelly

and sister Loyce (Kelly) Carter; lifelong friend, Carole Jackson

Neuenhoff- Caldwell, TX, special friend of 57 years, Margo

Linback- San Diego, CA.; several nieces nephews and loved ones

to mourn her passing and cherish her memory. Chances will truly

be missed by all that loved her.

   Per Chances wishes, she was to be cremated. The family is

planning a service to include a Celebration of Chances’s life

on a later date.
