POUND, VA – Betty Jane "Betty Boop" Owens 86, entered into eternal rest Tuesday May 26, 2026 from her residence. Her home

was filled with her loving family.

Betty was a Christian of the Baptist faith and attended Hubbards Chapel Church. She was a homemaker and a devoted mother. Betty loved quilting, going out to eat, and ice cream, particularly strawberry ice cream. She enjoyed going to the lake, and riding through the mountains, especially Cades Cove and Maggie Valley. She really enjoyed traveling and had been to the majority of the states at some time. Betty was straight forward and quick to give her opinion, but

she also worried about everyone and had their well being at heart. She was also well known for her flat footing ability.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Richard Clyde Owens; her parents James Luther and Calesta (Hamilton) Powers; her sisters Mabel Owens, Italy Marie Mullins, Rita "Pansy"  Mullins and Verda Mullins;

and her great-granddaughter Emily Miller.

Survivors include her daughter Linda Jane Tompkins (Thomas); her sons Michael Owens and wife Liz and Robert Owens and wife Jean; grandchildren Patrick (Gina) Owens, Clyde (Summer) Owens, Clarisa

"CJ" (Jason) Miller; Michael Allan Owens, Celesta Tompkins, Larry Tompkins, and Nicholas Owens (Carly); great-grandchildren Carson Owens, Carlyle Owens, Richard Owens, Sadra Owens (Brian Hamilton),

Patrick Miller, Jayse Miller, Timothy Powers and Ava Owens; special grandson Michael "Pooh" Owens; special niece Patty Counts; brother William "Pig" Powers; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends Euna Vee Adams

and Edith Dotson; and a host of friends and loved ones.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Sunday May 31, 2026 in the Baker Funeral Home Chapel with Nicholas Owens, Reverend Billy Hibbits and Reverend Allan Graham officiating. The family will receive

friends from 11:00 am until time of services.

Graveside service will follow in the Powers Family Cemetery on Cumbo Road-Pound, VA where Betty will be laid to rest beside her husband Richard. Pooh Owens, Larry Tompkins, Patrick Owens, Clyde Owens,

Nicholas Owens, Patrick Miller, Carlyle Owens, Carson Qwens and Timothy Powers will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be William "Pig" Powers.
