Betty Delores Jones, age 81, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Heritage Hall in Big Stone Gap, VA.

She was born on February 28, 1943, to the late Lora Ellen and Robert Patton Jones. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, Paul Jones, Glen Jones & Lloyd Jones; Sister, Charlene Jones; Nieces, Monica Wilson & Kay Jones; Nephews, Monty Ray Gardner, David Jones and Buddy Gardner.

Betty was a graduate of J.J. Kelly High School. She lived her life as a true Christian and lived her life for the Lord. She was a faithful member to Trinity Life Center Church where she always loved to hear Brother John and Sister Martha's preaching. Betty enjoyed many, many years of ministry and spending time with her dear friends, Jack and JeanAnn Hughes of Coeburn, VA. Betty was the true definition of a Prayer Warrior. When you desired prayers for any situation, Betty was the one to call. Betty appeared on broadcasts for the Health Wagon explaining how thankful she was to have them for her health care and all the help they provided to her. Betty's great-niece, Ashton, had a brain tumor diagnosis at a very young age, we know that Betty's prayers to her Lord and Savior were heard and her hands were a part of Ashton's healing as she would not be a walking miracle like she is today. Betty had healing hands of an angel and always had the perfect prayer for no matter what the situation. Betty loved to express her love for the Lord through beautiful Christian poetry that she would write.

Betty spent her younger years in Washington D.C. working for the Department of Labor before returning home to finish out her working years at Bank of America and Powell Valley National Bank.

Although Betty never married or had any children of her own, she had plenty of nieces and nephews to spoil rotten which was truly one of her biggest enjoyments. Betty was so proud of the many nieces and nephews she left behind. In her home, you can find pictures all-around of them and their families so she could brag on every one of them.

Left to cherish her memory are her sisters; Charlotte Gardner (Norton, VA), Janice Maxey (Bristol, TN) ;Brother Jerry and very special sister-in-law Barbara Jones (Wise, VA) ;Nieces, Ava Culbertson & husband Steve (Newberry, SC), Karen Gardner (Norton, VA), Teresa Castle & husband Bill (Clintwood, VA), Teresa Tyson (Coeburn, VA), Karen Maxey (Bristol, TN), Cheryl Jones Bise & husband Scott (Wise, Va) ;Nephews, Steve Jones & wife Bobbie Jean (Coeburn, Va), Jeff Jones & wife Brandy (New Bern, NC), Allen Jones (Wise, VA), Chris Jones (Coeburn, VA), Sherrie Jones (Wise, VA), Paulette Jones (Roanoke, VA), Gary Wayne "Butch" Jones (Louisiana), and Vickie Sue Jones (Raleigh, NC).

Special Great-Great Nieces & Nephews; Bailey Nixon (Norton, Va), Lauren Castle (Clintwood, Va), Miranda Smith (Clintwood, Va), Jordan Castle (Clintwood, Va), Eron Gardner (Coeburn, VA), Miles Gardner (Coeburn, VA), a new addition on the way, baby Gardner, Asher Bank (Lincoln, NE), Ryann Bank (Lincoln, NE), Ezra Bank (Lincoln, NE) and Isla Bradley (Lincoln, NE), special Great Niece's, Lora Culbertson, husband Bucky (Norton, VA), Shea Bradley & husband Ben (Lincoln, NE), Shauna Bank and husband Jordan (Lincoln, NE), Ashton Gardner (Coeburn, VA).

Betty's brother, sister's and family would like to thank her Great-Niece Brittni Nixon, husband Tra Nixon (Norton, VA), for all she did for Betty. Brittni was her care giver for several years. She was the person Betty could always count on for everything. Brittni always made sure Betty had everything she needed, checked on her and fought for well being and safety in so many ways. As always, Brittni was there with Betty until her time on earth here was done once again showing Betty she would always be there for her.

The family would like to thank Heritage Hall in Big Stone Gap, VA for their kind and compassionate care for Betty, Cara Robinson-Stewart, Teresa Tyson, Paula Hill-Collins & The Health Wagon for Betty's lifelong care and Baker Funeral Home for all that they have done.

Private services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday January 28, 2025, at the Trinity Life Center with Pastor John McCarroll officiating.     Burial will follow in Laura Grove Cemetery, Norton VA. where Tra Nixon, Cody Mann, Casey Gray, Zach Fletcher, Cody Carico & Jordan Castle will serve as pallbearers.
