CLINTWOOD, VA – Barbara S. Kendrick, 94, departed this earthly world for her eternal home Wednesday April 1, 2026 with her loving family by her side.
Barbara was a born again Christian, she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and will now spend eternity in his loving presence. She
was member of Lone Pine Chapel Church and attended Hamilton Chapel Church and the Little Ruth Old Regular Baptist Church in Green Cove Springs, FL. Barbara was a member and former Worthy Matron in the Eastern Star. She was a retired bookkeeper and a lifelong homemaker. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved caring for others and had done just that all her life. She loved traveling, especially going to Florida and staying for the winters. Barbara was an avant reader, she would read almost anything, but especially loved newspapers. She liked it almost as much as talking. She loved to have
conversations with almost everyone.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Beulah (Meade) Sheppard; her husband Oliver Kendrick; sisters Ione Lee
Sturgill, Lana Carol Stidham and Grace Ann Sheppard; brother Lawrence Sheppard; sons-in-law Craig Fleming and Joey Gerhardt; a brothers-in-law Tucker Sturgill and Glenn Stidham; and niece Carolyn Stidham; and special a friend Shirley Fritz.
Barbara is survived by her daughters Margaret Fleming-Big Stone Gap, VA and Susan Gerhardt-Big Stone Gap, VA; grand-daughter Savannah Gerhardt-Big Stone Gap, VA; great grandchildren Azaleigh and Paisleigh; special niece Libby Fleming and husband Brian-Pound, VA; special great-niece Haylee Fleming-Pound, VA; special nephew Jerry Stidham-Maryland; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friend Jean Hill and a host of friends and loved ones.
The family would like to give a sincere thank you to all the nurses and staff at Heritage Hall-Wise and the caregivers who provided comfort for Barbara.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday April 6, 2026, at the Powell Valley Memorial Garden Mausoleum Chapel
with Reverend Randy Carter officiating. Entombment will follow.
