POUND, VA- Arlene Dingus Cantrell age 75 entered into her heavenly home on January 30, 2026, with her loving family by

her side.

Arlene was of the Baptist faith and a member of Pyles Memorial Church. Arlene was a former employee at the old St. Mary's

Hospital in the 1970's where she worked in the dietary department.

Arlene married Jack Cantrell in 1979 and became a wife and homemaker. Jack and Arlene were never blessed with children of

their own. She dearly loved children and helped care for several nieces and nephews. No child ever left her house empty handed.

She had a special love for animals, having had several pets over the years. She loved being with family, taking walks and shopping. Arlene leaves a host of family and friends to mourn her passing and cherish her memory.

Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Heritage Hall of Clintwood and Caris Hospice for all the kindness and compassion shown to Arlene and her family during her stay.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband Jack Cantrell; parents Thelmar "Clutch" and Ethel Stidham Dingus' brothers Harold Dingus, Ronnie Dingus; uncle Lee "Junior" Stidham.

Survivors include sisters Glenetta Stanley (Nolan), Kathy Cantrell (John Mullins) and Delilah Calton (Terry); brother Newton Dingus; special niece Rhonda Short (Robin); several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews and cousins; and special friend Peggy Strouth.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Monday February 2, 2026, in the Baker Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Randy Carter officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until time of services.

Burial and committal services will follow in the Dingus Family Cemetery on Collins/Baker Road-Pound, VA where family members

and friends will serve as pallbearers.
